Social media influencer, Okuneye Idris, better known by his stage name Bobrisky, was taken off a KLM flight to Amsterdam and held by immigration officials late on Thursday night as he was trying to leave the country.

Bobrisky used his Instagram account to let his fans know he had been arrested and said he had been hurt in a fight with the immigration officers.

Bobrisky claims that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is the reason he is being held.

He wrote, “Nigerians help me, EFCC just arrested me. I’m badly injured.”

On October 22, Bobrisky was apprehended at the Sème border while reportedly trying to leave the country.

The controversy surrounding him began in April 2024, when the Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced him to six months in prison for naira abuse.

Although he was officially held at Kirikiri Prison, subsequent reports suggested that Bobrisky spent only three weeks there before being quietly relocated to a private facility.

This led to widespread speculation that his early release and preferential treatment were obtained through bribery, with allegations of a ₦15 million payment made to officials for his transfer and special conditions.

The situation intensified in late September 2024 when social media influencer VeryDarkMan shared an audio recording purportedly featuring Bobrisky.

In the recording, Bobrisky allegedly stated that music artist Falz and his father, human rights lawyer Femi Falana, had approached him during his incarceration, requesting ₦10 million to arrange a presidential pardon.

In response, Falana and Falz issued a cease-and-desist letter on October 16, 2024, demanding a retraction and public apology for what they termed defamatory remarks.

Bobrisky, however, refuted these allegations, asserting that he was not responsible for the leaked audio and urged the Falanas to hold VeryDarkMan accountable instead.
