Tony Elumelu, Chairman of United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, paid tribute to the legendary music producer, Quincy Jones, who passed away recently at the age of 91.

Elumelu acknowledged Mr. Jones' exceptional talent in identifying and nurturing talent, which had a profound impact on the music industry and left an enduring legacy.

He also compared Jones to Nigerian music producer Don Jazzy, referring to him as the “Quincy Jones Jr of Nigeria.”

Elumelu emphasized that, similar to Jones, Don Jazzy possesses a unique talent for recognizing and fostering emerging musical artists.

“I have always admired Quincy Jones, not only for his role in producing some of Michael Jackson’s most iconic hits but also for his remarkable ability to identify and nurture talent.

“In our part of the world, I believe Don Jazzy is following in his footsteps,” he wrote on X.

Elumelu’s tribute wrapped up with a heartfelt acknowledgment of Jones’ enduring influence: “Quincy’s exceptional talent embodies a fundamental leadership quality that has transformed the music industry, creating a lasting impact and a legacy of achievement. May he find eternal peace.”
