The revelation of 2Baba's marital issues has caused quite a stir on social media, sparking a mix of reactions from fans and critics alike.
In an Instagram live session, Daddy Freeze urged Nigerians not to cancel 2Baba for his mistakes. He drew comparisons to figures from the Bible, highlighting that many had their flaws yet still managed to achieve greatness.
He pointed out that 2Baba's lifestyle has always been out in the open, and his tendency to stray was known even before he tied the knot with Annie.
Neither individual can be classified as purely good or evil; both possess their imperfections. As someone who maintains close relationships with both, I choose not to take sides, Daddy Freeze remarked. He pointed out that while the viral footage of 2Baba with his purported new girlfriend has sparked criticism, it is crucial to acknowledge that the artist has demonstrated consistent behavior throughout his life.
Daddy Freeze questioned the expectation for the singer to change after marriage, given his past. “Before the wedding, he was like that. During the marriage, he was like that. How did we expect him to suddenly become a Catholic priest? Maybe we were expecting too much,” he stated.
He further stressed that 2Baba’s missteps should not overshadow his significant contributions to African music. “Let’s not judge or cancel him for his flaws. Let’s give him credit for his achievements. Solomon, Moses, and Abraham in the Bible all had flaws, yet they were still celebrated.”
In response to those threatening to confront 2Baba, including public figures such as Toke Makinwa, Daddy Freeze called for a more empathetic perspective. “This man has been the same all his life. Let’s learn to manage our expectations.”
