Esther Igbekele is a prominent figure in the realm of Yoruba Alujo Gospel music, well-recognized by her fans. In a recent discussion, the gospel minister provided valuable insights into her career, emphasizing the significance of social media and sharing her aspirations for the future of the gospel music sector.

During the interview, Igbekele noted that social media has been instrumental in advancing her music career, particularly as she has not had a promoter for several years.

“Well for everyone that wants to sustain a healthy business, you must face one trouble or the other due to early growth fears,” she stated. “I have been without a promoter for so many years, but now I can face the hurdles of having no one to promote me due to the help of social media platforms. Getting more followers may be a little bit stressful, but with time organic followers that appreciate your potential will follow you.”

Igbekele articulated her aspiration for an enhancement in the quality of gospel music being produced. She envisions songs that connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

In offering guidance to her peers in the genre, Igbekele highlighted the significance of maintaining focus and resilience, particularly when confronted with early obstacles. She underscored that diligence and commitment are crucial for achieving success.

Regarding her recent project, Igbekele revealed the launch of a new single featuring “prophetic declarations that this year will bring blessings to all,” stating, “I am going to make it whether enemies like it or not.”

Esther Igbekele embarked on her professional music journey in 1996. In her pursuit of knowledge and growth within the industry, she collaborated with prominent figures in the Nigerian Gospel Music scene. She worked alongside notable artists such as Pastor J.A. Bankole of Iluayo Gospel Singers (Crusaders Church) and spent five years performing with Baba Ayewa, Pastor J.A. Adelakun. Additionally, she was part of the Imole Ayo Music Organisation led by Evangelist Akin Adebayo for four years and learned stagecraft from Evangelist Kingsley Ogunde.

Her debut gospel music release was titled “Gospel 2000,” followed by her first album, “Breakthrough,” in 2001. To date, she has released over 14 albums, including notable titles such as Holyghost Knockout, Divine Upliftment, and Oluwa Lo ni Glory.

Esther Igbekele's musical style is categorized as gospel pop, a genre that includes artists like Tope Alabi and Yinka Ayefele, among other Yoruba gospel musicians.

Through her dedication and hard work, she has achieved significant success in her career, becoming an inspiration for emerging gospel artists in Nigeria. She has received numerous awards and has ministered both locally and internationally.
