Microsoft plans to invest $3 billion and provide training for 10 million individuals in artificial intelligence across India.

Microsoft just dropped a huge $3 billion investment to ramp up its AI and Azure cloud capabilities in India. During a conference in Bengaluru on Tuesday, CEO Satya Nadella called it the company's "single largest expansion" in the country.

This move makes India a key player for global tech companies looking to grow. With over 1.4 billion people and widespread access to affordable internet, the country has caught the eye of major investors like Nvidia and Meta, whose leaders have also been visiting recently.

Nadella mentioned that Microsoft aims to train 10 million Indians in AI by 2030, building on their commitment to provide AI training for 2 million people by 2025. The focus is on reaching individuals in smaller cities and rural areas to ensure everyone has access to these opportunities.

While in India, Nadella also chatted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi about technology, innovation, and AI, as Microsoft looks to expand its presence in the region.

This $3 billion investment fits into Microsoft's larger strategy to strengthen its global position in AI and cloud services. Just last week, the company announced plans to invest $80 billion in fiscal 2025, with a significant portion going towards building data centers in the U.S. for AI training and cloud applications.

With the global demand for AI and cloud services skyrocketing, Microsoft's expansion in India positions the company to tap into one of the most vibrant digital economies in the world.
