The French Football Association has stated that Monaco's Singo ought to have received a red card for inflicting a facial injury on Donnarumma.

The French soccer refereeing authority has stated that Monaco's defender Wilfried Singo should have received a red card for injuring Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma during their Ligue 1 match last month.

Singo's studs caught Donnarumma's face when he attempted to jump over him after his shot was blocked, resulting in a significant cut below Donnarumma's right eye during PSG's 4-2 victory at Monaco. Despite already being booked, Singo managed to escape a red card following a VAR review.

In their weekly report, the refereeing department acknowledged the situation was tough to assess, citing factors like recklessness and lack of intent, but concluded that Singo should have been sent off. They pointed out that the sole of his boot made direct contact with Donnarumma's face, which qualifies as a "gross foul" according to the rules.

Donnarumma sustained "facial trauma with multiple wounds" but has since returned to action, playing in goal as PSG defeated Monaco 1-0 to claim the Champions Trophy. Singo has expressed regret to Donnarumma and faced racist abuse following the incident.
