The Federal Government has revealed its intention to abolish the Visa-on-Arrival policy, stating that it has proven ineffective.

In its place, the government plans to implement landing and exit cards that prospective travelers will need to complete prior to their arrival in the country.

The Visa-on-Arrival policy was initially introduced in 2020, allowing for a short-stay visa to be issued upon arrival at the port of entry.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo, upon taking office in 2023, indicated that the Visa-on-Arrival policy would now operate on a basis of reciprocity.

This visa is typically granted to high-net-worth investors and frequent travelers who may face challenges obtaining visas in their home countries due to the lack of Nigerian diplomatic missions or embassies there.
