She further disclosed that she is subjected to daily death threats and feels increasingly unsafe.
In a heartfelt interview with Chude Jideonwo on Wednesday, Wunmi addressed the ongoing dispute regarding Mohbad’s estate, the controversy surrounding their son's paternity, and the pervasive fear that has come to characterize her life.
“My father-in-law wanted to be in control of my husband’s properties, and he would literally go all out to destroy my life.
“He has been chastising Liam so much. He says my son has bow legs and that no one in their family has such. He even said that Liam’s face is older than his, and he is almost 60,” she claimed.
She also claimed that her father-in-law accused Mohbad of attempting to throw their son into the lagoon..
“He went as far as saying that Mohbad wanted to throw our son into the lagoon under the Third Mainland Bridge,” she revealed.
Since the unexpected passing of Mohbad in September 2023, Wunmi has found herself embroiled in a contentious conflict with the family of the deceased artist.
Her father-in-law has persistently demanded a DNA test to verify the paternity of Liam, a request that has sparked further disputes.
Wunmi stated that she was aware of the request for her son's DNA, saying, “I have made it clear that I am willing to undergo the DNA test, but he insists that I should not disclose the results publicly.”
In addition to the ongoing property and paternity issues, Wunmi has expressed concerns for her safety.
“My son and I no longer feel safe. I receive threats on my social media handles every day, and it has reached a point where I either speak up or suffer in silence.
“I have been attacked by Naira Marley, his cohorts, his supporters, and my father-in-law,” she added
Recently, Mohbad’s father claimed that he grew suspicious of Liam’s paternity after two of Mohbad’s friends indicated during the coroner’s inquest that the child was a point of contention between the late singer and Wunmi.
He also mentioned that Wunmi never provided him or Mohbad with access to Liam’s placenta.
Despite the surrounding controversy, Wunmi maintains that her primary concern is seeking justice for her late husband and ensuring her son's safety.
Reflecting on her marriage to the late singer, Wunmi noted that her father-in-law was the one who initiated the union and was initially very pleased about it.
However, she questioned how he could assert that she was not married to Mohbad.
