Kelechi Eke, a celebrated filmmaker and the founder of The African Film Festival (TAFF) and Village Arts and Film Festival (VILLAFFEST), has expanded his entrepreneurial endeavors by venturing into bread baking. His new business, 'Ihemba Bread', is based in Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria, and has already created employment opportunities for 26 young people in the community.

Eke, who has been in Nigeria since December, shared that his motivation for starting the bakery was to address unemployment at the grassroots level and to give back to society. The bakery offers a variety of bread products and sizes, each named after African royalty, reflecting Eke’s deep love for Africa and his mother, Ugoji.

This initiative aligns with the Nigerian federal government’s appeal to Nigerians in the diaspora to return home and invest in the country’s economy. By establishing Ihemba Bread, Eke is not only contributing to local economic growth but also celebrating African heritage through his unique product offerings.
