At MWC 2025 in Barcelona, ECNO announced a partnership with Koç University in Turkey to explore the unique aesthetic preferences of Turkish consumers in smartphone photography. This collaboration expands TECNO’s global research into multi-skin tone imaging technology and highlights the significance of its Universal Tone Imaging technology, launched over a year ago.

The partnership will focus on understanding Turkish consumers’ aesthetic sensibilities and skin tone preferences through surveys, structured interviews, and field studies. TECNO smartphones will be used by Turkish participants to gather insights into:

  • Portrait photography habits, preferences, and behaviors
  • Decision-making processes during photo-taking, editing, and posting
  • Challenges encountered in the photography process
  • User experience with TECNO phones for portrait photography

TECNO’s AI-driven Universal Tone technology has been evolving steadily, with recent partnerships in Saudi Arabia and Singapore to better understand and localize smartphone photography for those markets. The technology integrates three key engines:

  1. Multi-Skin Tone Restoration Engine
  2. Local Tuning Engine
  3. Computational Portrait Engine

By incorporating cultural and aesthetic preferences unique to each region, TECNO’s cameras produce images that accurately represent the skin tones of specific markets, ensuring a diversified mobile photography experience. The upcoming TECNO CAMON 40 series will continue to feature this advanced technology.
