Popular comedian, actor and Mc, Adeoye Adeyemi Elesho, known as Yemi Elesho, or Booda Nuru,  the son of the well-known Yoruba comic actor Adewale Elesho, recounted an interesting moment when he compensated Asake with a plate of food and a bottle of soda for his performances.

During a recent interview with streamer Jigan, Elesho reflected on how his friendship with Asake blossomed during their time as undergraduates at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife. He referred to Asake as his “day one,” emphasizing that their connection was forged while they were both taking their initial steps in the entertainment field.

“Back then, I would pay Asake with a ₦700 plate of rice and a bottle of Coca-Cola as his performance fee for appearing in movies during our time at OAU,” Elesho revealed. “He’s my longtime friend, and I still have photos and videos from our university days. We even played in celebrity football matches together.”

Elesho’s memories provide insight into Asake’s early enthusiasm for entertainment, highlighting his eagerness to explore different creative paths before rising to fame as a musician. Long before achieving stardom, Asake engaged in acting, showcasing his versatility and commitment to the arts. Today, he is recognized as one of Nigeria’s—and Africa’s—most prominent artists.

Although Asake is currently focused on his music career, it remains uncertain whether he will return to his acting roots and take on film roles in the future.
