Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has spoken out following a remark made by fellow actress Eniola Badmus on social media, which she described as inappropriate and insensitive. Aiyeola addressed the issue through a video shared on her Instagram page on Thursday, where she firmly but passionately expressed her disappointment.

The comment in question came from Badmus under one of Aiyeola’s posts and read, “Ope, where is your front hair?”—a remark Aiyeola viewed as a form of public ridicule, especially coming from someone she believes should be more empathetic, considering their own past experiences with body shaming.

“I understand how chaotic social media can be, and that people say all sorts of things. But I chose to respond to Eniola because of who she is and what she represents,” Aiyeola said, pointing to Badmus’ personal journey through public scrutiny and online bullying.

Aiyeola called out the irony of the comment, highlighting that Badmus herself had once been a frequent target of online mockery. “You have walked the difficult road of body shaming. You know how much it hurts. And yet, you choose to tear down another woman with your words,” she said.

She also questioned the intent behind the remark, given that they do not have a close relationship or history of interaction. “You don’t support my work. You barely engage with my content. We don’t celebrate each other. So for you to show up now with that kind of comment—it says more about you than it does about me,” Aiyeola remarked.

In her video, Aiyeola challenged the idea that physical beauty is the ultimate measure of a person, saying, “Beauty isn’t just what you see in the mirror. When you define beauty by appearances alone, it reveals your ignorance.”

She went further to criticize what she sees as a lack of empathy and responsibility, particularly from someone like Badmus, who holds a public and political role. “People look up to you. You’ve been trusted with a platform, even a political one. That comes with responsibility. You should be lifting others up, not tearing them down,” she said.

In a particularly emotional moment, Aiyeola labeled Badmus’ behavior as lacking in conscience and described it as disappointing, especially coming from someone who should be using her voice for positive influence. “You have shown the world your true self,” she said. “And I pity those who still believe in you without seeing your actions for what they are.”

Despite the strong words, Aiyeola ended her message on a grateful and self-affirming note, thanking her fans and followers for their concern and support. She reassured them that she is content with who she is and does not require unsolicited advice or validation.

“I’m beautifully and wonderfully made,” she said. “I’m surrounded by love—people who accept me as I am, no matter how I look or what I might be going through.”

As of the time of this report, Eniola Badmus has not issued a public response.

The exchange has sparked conversations online about the role of public figures in promoting empathy, self-love, and respect within the entertainment industry and beyond.
