Nnadiekwe initially shared details of the alarming event via an Instagram post on Saturday, recounting that he sustained a severe kick to the chest during filming. While he initially refrained from naming the individual, a now-viral behind-the-scenes clip uploaded by Nnadiekwe clearly shows actor Zubby Michael angrily exiting a vehicle, leaping over a barricade, and kicking Nnadiekwe as he emerged from a house. Michael is then seen entering the building after the altercation.
According to Nnadiekwe, the unexpected kick was not part of the planned action for the scene and caused him significant pain. He further revealed that he had to seek medical attention independently, receiving no support or first aid from the production team on set.
"During a scene, I received a kick to the chest from my colleague that wasn’t part of the script or directed by the director," Nnadiekwe stated in his post. "It caused me serious pains. Had to get medication for my chest to feel better today. I did all these by myself. No assistance!"
Nnadiekwe emphasized the critical importance of all physical actions on set being intentional and carried out under the explicit guidance of the director. He issued an emotional appeal to the Nollywood industry, urging actors and producers to prioritize safety, particularly in an environment where many productions reportedly lack adequate insurance, medical support, or structured safety protocols.
"When we’re working without insurance policies or readily available first aid, unexpected physical actions like this, even if accidental, can have real consequences," he stressed. "What if something more serious had happened?"
Shortly after Nnadiekwe's initial public statement, his management released an urgent update, confirming a worsening of his condition. They reported that Nnadiekwe had been rushed to the hospital and is currently undergoing treatment for internal bleeding. This statement explicitly named Zubby Michael as the colleague involved in the incident.
"We regret to inform you that Actor Godwin Nnadiekwe was rushed to the hospital this evening," the statement read. "He is undergoing treatment for internal bleeding following an incident involving a kick on the chest during filming with his colleague, Zubby Michael."
The incident has sparked a wider conversation within the Nollywood community regarding on-set safety, accountability, and the provision of adequate medical and emergency support for actors.
