Elon Musk's social media platform, X, experienced a significant outage on Saturday, impacting tens of thousands of users globally before services were largely restored. Following the disruption, Musk announced a renewed, intensive focus on his companies, including X, xAI, and Tesla.

According to the outage tracking website Downdetector.com, reports of issues with X peaked around 8:51 a.m. ET (1:51 PM GMT+1 in Lagos), with over 25,800 incidents reported by users in the United States alone. The impact was also felt by thousands of users in various other countries, including Germany, Spain, France, India, Canada, Australia, and Britain, before the number of reported outages dropped to below 650 by 12:09 p.m. ET (5:09 PM GMT+1).

In an X post, Musk stated, "Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms. I must be super focused on X/xAI and Tesla (plus Starship launch next week), as we have critical technologies rolling out." X did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the outage.

The announcement of increased dedication to his businesses comes after a period where Musk's political engagements drew considerable attention. He had reportedly spent nearly $300 million backing U.S. President Donald Trump's presidential campaign and other Republicans last year. This week, however, Musk indicated a significant reduction in his political spending, signaling a shift back to his business empire amidst growing investor concerns.

His past political endeavors, including leading a "Department of Government Efficiency" aimed at substantial job and contract cuts, had reportedly triggered protests against Tesla in the U.S. and Europe, contributing to a slump in sales and the automaker's first reported drop in annual deliveries last year.

Concerns among some investors regarding the amount of time Musk has dedicated to Tesla have been notable. Addressing these worries, Musk had previously informed investors last month that he would reduce his time committed to DOGE (likely a typo in the original text, probably referring to another venture or a misspoken acronym) to just a day or two per week starting from May. His latest declaration of "24/7" focus suggests an even more intense personal commitment to his core companies.
