Nigerian rapper and actor Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has publicly denied any personal or professional relationship with controversial crossdresser Bobrisky. According to Falz, his only interaction with Bobrisky was a response to a direct request for assistance during a legal issue, and nothing more.

Speaking in an interview on Arise TV, Falz clarified that he often receives messages from individuals seeking help and generally tries to offer support where he can. Bobrisky’s outreach, he explained, was not unique or exceptional.

“I never had any relationship with Bobrisky prior to that phone call,” Falz said. “He messaged me on Instagram and said, ‘I’m in this case and I want to speak to you about how you can help.’ Thousands of people message me like that. This wasn’t a special case.”

The clarification comes amid an ongoing legal battle between Falz and online commentator VeryDarkMan (VDM), who leaked an alleged phone conversation between Falz and Bobrisky while the latter was in prison. Falz has filed a defamation suit against VDM, which he said remains active in court.

“Update on the court case: very much still in court,” he said. “My dad and I filed the case for defamation. Since then, they have not entered a defense. Instead, they filed a preliminary objection, arguing that the court lacks jurisdiction. But the court has now struck that out, so they must either defend the case or the court will proceed to rule.”

The rapper also expressed disappointment over how the situation unfolded, saying the experience has made him more cautious about helping others in the future.

“Compassionately, I try to help people. Little did I know. Anyways, as they say, once bitten, twice shy,” he said. “I’m not saying I won’t help anyone again, but I will definitely be more conscious.”

Falz's comments underscore the growing tension between public figures and social media commentators in Nigeria, as well as the risks involved in offering assistance in an era of online sensationalism and misinformation.
