This commitment was announced on Friday in Lagos by Mr. Ishmael Balogun, President of the Nigerian-Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NICCI), during a press conference outlining plans for the event.
According to Balogun, the Office of the Vice President, Mr. Kashim Shettima, has formally endorsed the initiative and directed the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) to coordinate relevant government ministries, departments, and agencies to ensure its success.
Key stakeholders expected to participate include the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health, the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), and other strategic trade bodies.
Balogun highlighted that the 40th Indonesian Trade Expo is scheduled to hold in Jakarta from October 15 to 19, 2025. Immediately following that, the Nigeria-Indonesian Investment and Trade Forum will take place in the same city from October 21 to 23.
“These events represent critical opportunities for both nations to strengthen trade, showcase investment opportunities, and consolidate an already strong relationship,” Balogun said.
He noted that Nigeria and Indonesia currently maintain active trade ties across sectors such as oil and gas, manufacturing, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), household products, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, and electronics. The bilateral trade figure stood at $4.7 billion in 2023, with projections targeting $5 billion in 2024.
However, Balogun stressed the need to intensify efforts to grow trade volumes further. “We must deepen our engagement, improve the ease of doing business, and strengthen the enduring friendship between our two countries,” he said.
To support broader participation, NICCI has streamlined visa applications, accommodation arrangements, and tourism procedures for Nigerian businesses and stakeholders wishing to attend.
Balogun encouraged interested participants to take advantage of these arrangements and to access detailed event information and registration via the official websites: www.nigerianindonesianchamber.com and www.niitf.org.
Government officials, business leaders, and trade experts see the forum as an important platform to showcase Nigeria’s investment potential, build strategic partnerships, and foster sustainable economic development in both countries.
