Technology Meets Compassion in Community-Focused Health Initiative

In a significant step toward improving health equity, IT Horizons, in collaboration with ShepherdHill Healthcare Initiative, recently delivered a comprehensive free medical outreach to residents of the Magboro community in Ogun State. The program, part of IT Horizons’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, aimed to promote wellness through accessible healthcare, expert consultations, and preventive education.

The outreach event was designed to provide essential health services, particularly to underserved populations who often lack access to consistent care. It offered a blend of preventive screenings, health education, and treatment, bridging a crucial gap in local healthcare delivery.

Comprehensive Care: Screenings, Consultations, and Medication

Throughout the outreach, residents received general health screenings, including blood pressure and blood sugar checks, body mass index (BMI) assessments, and vision testing. These were followed by one-on-one consultations with medical professionals who offered diagnoses, lifestyle guidance, and treatment plans.

To ensure patients were not left without care beyond the outreach, each participant was registered, with basic health records documented for follow-up and monitoring. Where necessary, prescribed medications were distributed on-site, ensuring immediate relief and continuity of care.

Empowering Residents Through Health Education

A key component of the outreach was health education. Sessions focused on:

  • Personal hygiene
  • Nutrition
  • Prevention of lifestyle diseases (such as diabetes and hypertension)
  • Long-term wellness strategies

These interactive discussions aimed to empower individuals with knowledge, helping them take control of their health and reduce avoidable illness through simple, daily practices.

Leaders Speak: Building Healthier Futures Together

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Olusegun Enitan Dada, CEO of IT Horizons, underscored the importance of corporate involvement in community well-being.

“At IT Horizons, we understand that sustainable development starts with healthy communities,” he said. “This outreach is a reflection of our values—we are not just giving back, we are laying the groundwork for a healthier, more resilient society.”

He added that this initiative is one of many the company plans to roll out in communities across Nigeria as part of its long-term social impact vision.

Mrs. Odeyemi Toyin, Founder of ShepherdHill Healthcare Initiative, highlighted the significance of the partnership.

“This collaboration allowed us to bring quality healthcare to people who have long needed it. We commend IT Horizons for recognising that health is a vital pillar of CSR, and for their hands-on support in making this a reality.”

A Model for Sustainable CSR in Healthcare

The Magboro outreach exemplifies how strategic partnerships between technology firms and health-focused NGOs can produce tangible results for underserved communities. It also highlights the evolving role of CSR—not just as a goodwill gesture, but as a critical vehicle for systemic change in public health.

As IT Horizons continues to align its technological expertise with social impact, initiatives like this mark a shift toward holistic, sustainable corporate engagement—where innovation meets humanity in service of a healthier future for all.
