Iyabo Ojo took to Instagram to express her outrage at what she described as an audacious attempt to silence and intimidate her daughter. According to the actress, Kimambi’s remarks were not only intrusive but also unfounded and disrespectful.
In her lengthy post, Ojo made it clear that she has raised Priscilla to be self-assured and unapologetically authentic. She rejected any suggestion that her daughter should limit her personal expression for political reasons, especially from someone who does not reside in Tanzania.
“I’ve taught my daughter to be confident and authentic,” Ojo wrote. “She will never be dictated to, especially not by someone who lives thousands of miles away.”
She also addressed and dismissed circulating rumors suggesting that the Tanzanian government funded Priscilla and Jux’s recent wedding. According to Iyabo, the elaborate ceremony held in Nigeria was financed entirely by the bride’s family, in keeping with their cultural traditions.
“In my family, it’s customary for the wife’s side to bear the wedding expenses,” she explained. “I wanted a grand celebration for my daughter, and we—Nigerians—made that happen. No external government was involved.”
Iyabo Ojo, known for her strong advocacy on social issues, emphasized that her stance is grounded in principles, not personal attacks. However, she took issue with Kimambi’s perceived overreach and questioned her authority to speak on matters involving a family she has no direct ties to.
“Living in America doesn’t give you the right to interfere in the lives of two consenting adults living happily in Tanzania,” she said. “Keep my daughter out of your affairs. She doesn’t need your validation. She is very loved and very protected.”
The actress ended her statement with a clear warning, reiterating her fierce loyalty as a mother and underscoring her belief in personal freedom and self-expression.
This incident has sparked conversations across African social media circles, touching on themes of cross-border commentary, generational values, and the boundaries of public influence. While Ojo’s critics may view her response as fiery, her supporters have praised her for standing firm in defense of her family’s autonomy.
