Nigerian sprint sensations Favour Ofili and Rosemary Chukwuma are set to light up the track at the 2025 ATX Sprint Classic, scheduled for Saturday, June 28, at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. The duo will compete in a highly anticipated women’s 100m showdown against some of the fastest sprinters in the world.

Ofili makes her return to competition following her record-breaking performance at the Adidas Atlanta City Games in May, where she stunned the athletics world by setting a new world best in the women’s 150m with a scorching time of 15.85 seconds. The 22-year-old holds Nigeria’s national 200m record (21.96s) and boasts a 100m season’s best of 10.94s, making her one of the top contenders in the field.

Her compatriot, Rosemary Chukwuma, enters the meet in stellar form after running a season’s best of 11.03s earlier this month at the Star Athletics Sprint Series in Florida. That performance not only earned her a win but also secured her qualification for the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo. Now 23, Chukwuma has established herself as a key figure in Nigeria’s sprint resurgence.

The women’s 100m lineup is among the most competitive on the circuit this season. Alongside Ofili and Chukwuma, American sprint star Gabby Thomas, an Olympic medallist, brings a season’s best of 11.00s into the race. Also featured are top U.S. sprinters Aleia Hobbs and Kayla White, the latter of whom will double in the 200m, where she currently holds an impressive 22.01s.

International representation will also be strong, with the likes of Tamara Clark and Bahamian rising star Terrence Jones, who has already clocked 9.91s in the men’s 100m this year, highlighting the depth of the meet.

In addition to the marquee sprint events, the one-day meet will feature a full slate of competitions including hurdles, 200m, and 400m races. Notable entries in the hurdles include Christina Clemons, Rayniah Jones, and Michael Dickson, while Nigerian-American sprinter Elijah Godwin will compete in the men’s events.

With such a stacked lineup, the ATX Sprint Classic promises to be a high-octane showcase of speed and elite performance—offering fans a preview of the talent poised to dominate the track in the lead-up to the World Championships.
