Prophet Abel Boma, founder of the ATB Foundation, has stirred online controversy after issuing a prophetic message in defense of actress Judy Austin, the second wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie. In a video posted to his official Instagram account, the Port Harcourt-based cleric claimed that God revealed to him a warning against the “hypocrisy and harsh judgment” directed at Judy, calling on Nigerians to focus on their own lives instead.
The prophet’s message, which quickly gained traction across social media platforms, emphasized that God's blessings and forgiveness are not bound by human opinions or moral standards.
“The Lord is sending a strong message to Nigeria. He is saying to all of you judging a certain woman, Judy, as the second wife of Yul, the Lord is saying let her be,” Prophet Boma declared in the video.
“A lot of hypocrisy is happening around us… Some of you have done worse… make your own marriage work and stop poking into other people’s relationships.”
He further accused Judy’s critics of moral double standards, suggesting that many of them secretly engage in the same behaviors they publicly condemn, including infidelity and disrupting other people’s marriages.
Public Outrage and Questions Over Prophetic Priorities
However, the prophet’s message was met with mixed reactions, especially from members of the loyal online community known as “May Nation”, who support May Edochie, Yul’s first wife. Many were offended by the prophetic defense of Judy and questioned the legitimacy of the message—particularly in light of pressing global issues such as violence, poverty, and insecurity.
One user, @henryumeadi, questioned the divine priorities:
“Na wa sha, una don dey too belittle God well well. So God get time for this? In the midst of all the sufferings and killings? Na Yul matter?”
Another commenter, @adao_raofficial, dismissed the prophecy, writing:
“The Lord is saying? Pastor be healed abeg.”
Others echoed similar sentiments, accusing the prophet of using God’s name to validate personal opinions, while a few voices supported the message, thanking him for speaking out in Judy’s defense.
Faith, Morality, and Social Media Judgment
The situation has reopened debates around faith, morality, polygamy, and public scrutiny in religious and celebrity circles. Critics argue that invoking divine revelation in defense of controversial figures can be misleading or manipulative. Supporters, however, believe that mercy and grace are core to spiritual teachings, and that societal judgment often lacks the same balance.
As Yul Edochie and Judy Austin continue to face public criticism over their relationship, Prophet Abel Boma’s message adds a new dimension to the conversation—blurring the line between prophecy and personal opinion in the digital age.
Whether his message is accepted as divine or dismissed as divisive, one thing remains clear: the intersection of religion, celebrity culture, and social media judgment continues to provoke strong reactions across Nigeria’s online community.
