Recalls Pressure to Own Two Cars Before Marriage
Veteran Nollywood actor and comedian Afeez Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka, has shared a personal story about an unexpected condition he faced while searching for a life partner during his bachelor days.
Speaking in a recent interview with Chude Jideonwo, Saka recounted how a woman he hoped to marry set what he considered an unrealistic requirement.
“The one that I was supposed to marry was demanding that I must have two cars,” he said, describing how the demand left him surprised and disappointed.
The actor’s anecdote highlights the social and financial expectations that can complicate relationships, particularly for young professionals striving to find stability.
Sets the Record Straight on Etisalat Ambassador Claims
In the same conversation, Saka also addressed a longstanding misconception about his work with the telecommunications company Etisalat (now 9mobile).
For years, many Nigerians assumed he was a formal brand ambassador for the company, largely due to his widely popular advertising campaigns, including his famous “I don port o” line that became part of pop culture.
But the actor clarified that he never had an official ambassadorial deal with Etisalat.
“A lot of people thought I was an ambassador to Etisalat. No. I didn’t have any formal or official arrangement. I am just a model,” he explained.
A Career Marked by Versatility and Humour
Afeez Oyetoro is widely regarded as one of Nollywood’s most recognisable faces, known for his comedic roles, expressive style, and memorable adverts. Over the years, he has appeared in numerous films and television productions, carving out a niche as one of Nigeria’s most beloved comic actors.
Beyond acting, Saka is also an academic, serving as a lecturer in Theatre Arts and continuing to inspire new generations of performers with his blend of experience and craft.
His latest revelations offer fans a candid glimpse into the personal and professional realities behind the laughter and fame, underscoring the pressures of societal expectations and the importance of setting the record straight.
