Marketing leader honoured for transforming brand storytelling and media strategy across Africa and beyond

Renowned media and marketing strategist Adeola Amosun has been named one of the Top 50 Trailblazers redefining Public Relations and Communications in Nigeria and the diaspora — a prestigious recognition curated by GLG Communications in partnership with The Guardian Nigeria.

The list celebrates influential voices charting new paths in brand storytelling, audience engagement, and purpose-driven communication. For Adeola, the recognition marks another defining moment in a career built on quiet consistency, strategic thinking, and measurable impact.

A Decade of Influence Across Continents and Categories

Currently serving as Group Media Manager at Tolaram, one of Africa’s leading conglomerates, Amosun leads strategy and innovation across a diverse portfolio of brands. His career spans more than ten years, during which he has worked across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, helping global and regional brands tell more compelling stories and make data-driven media investments.

From Coca-Cola, Guinness, and Nivea to P&G, StanbicIBTC, and Cartoon Network, Adeola’s work is a masterclass in integrated communications — blending creativity with strategy to deliver tangible results. He has been instrumental in rolling out numerous high-impact campaigns, including:

  • Pampers’ #MomsKnowBest campaign featuring Tiwa Savage
  • Johnnie Walker’s White Walker launch in Nigeria
  • Nivea’s Natural Fairness campaign with Omowunmi Akinnifesi
  • Be Beautiful with Beverly Naya, and Harmattan is Coming
  • The award-winning Duracell “Last Longer” campaign
  • Colgate’s “Yanga With Your Smile”, Lush Be Beautiful, Indomie Mama Do Good, and Power Oil’s Together We Can

One of his notable brand repositioning efforts was the rebranding of McDowell’s to MrDowell’s, a bold move that modernized the product’s image and resonated with younger consumers.

Building Brands, Leading Teams, Delivering Results

Beyond national campaigns, Amosun’s regional leadership has taken him to Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Mauritius, Angola, and Côte d’Ivoire, where he has led teams and managed multi-market media planning and execution.

While overseeing Nivea’s media strategy, he helped the agency secure performance bonuses during rigorous annual audits conducted by Accenture and Ebiquity, reinforcing his reputation as a media leader who not only creates but also delivers measurable performance.

“This journey – from the newsroom to the boardroom…”

Reflecting on the honour, Adeola said:

“This journey – from the newsroom to the boardroom – has always been about creating value and delivering impact. I’ve never chased recognition, but moments like this are a reminder that quiet consistency, excellence, and purpose-driven work still matter.”

He expressed gratitude to GLG Communications, The Guardian Nigeria, curator Omawumi Ogbe, and the jury panel. He also saluted his fellow honorees — “the juggernauts, storytellers, and system builders transforming African communications.”

From Journalism to Marketing Leadership

Adeola’s career began in the newsroom — first at Kapital FM, then with the Lagos State Ministry of Information. He later transitioned into media strategy at Dentsu Nigeria before joining Tolaram, where his influence continues to shape some of the continent’s most recognizable campaigns.

An alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, and an MBA in Global Business Management from Nexford University. He has also earned certifications in leadership, business strategy, and finance, equipping him with the tools to operate at the intersection of creativity and business performance.
