In a recent interview with Kiss FM in London, the 33-year-old star reflected on how his upbringing shaped him, explaining that he is now proud to embrace a label he once felt hesitant to own.
“I am a mummy’s boy. Big time. I am not ashamed to admit it anymore,” Idris told the hosts. “It used to be kind of like—‘ah, he’s a mummy’s boy.’ I am actually proud of myself on it. That woman is the reason why I exist. She is my biggest fan and I’m her biggest fan.”
Beyond affection, Idris spoke about his mother as a source of motivation in his life and career. He said his main goal is to make her proud, a sentiment he connects with one of his recent film characters.
“She is the one I want to make proud,” he added. “I relate to Joshua [a character in his movie] in that sense, too, because he just wants to make his mother proud and be the best and win a championship. And hopefully I can win a championship in whatever way I can, too.”
Idris, best known for his critically acclaimed performances on screen, has often credited his mother for her sacrifices and guidance throughout his journey. His latest remarks offer fans a personal glimpse into the values that drive him both on and off the set, highlighting the enduring impact of family support in his success.
