Actress Denounces Malicious Post, Says She Will Pursue Legal Redress
Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has announced plans to take legal action against a content creator who falsely claimed she is HIV positive. The actress, visibly upset in a video shared online, described the allegation as not only untrue but deeply hurtful to her and those close to her.
Amusa clarified that she had previously shared her HIV-negative test results on social media as part of a public health awareness campaign, encouraging her followers to get tested and know their status.
“I Am HIV Negative” — Amusa Reiterates
In her statement, Amusa reaffirmed that she is HIV negative and condemned the content creator’s post as a reckless and damaging lie.
“A few years ago, I did an HIV test, which came out negative, and I posted it to encourage my fans to get theirs done. Some days ago, a content creator posted on his page that I am HIV positive,” she said. “By now, he knows what he is going through because I will not let this slide.”
Content Creators Urged to Verify Claims
Amusa expressed disappointment over the increasing trend of unverified and harmful content being circulated by bloggers and influencers in the quest for attention and engagement.
“Why do content creators and bloggers post unverified information?” she questioned. “I have families and friends who read all these lies.”
Legal Action Aimed at Setting a Precedent
The actress stated that she is determined to hold the individual accountable in court, not only to protect her reputation but to set a precedent for responsible digital conduct.
“He will be my scapegoat and serve as a lesson to others,” Amusa declared.
Amusa’s decision to pursue legal action has sparked online conversations about cyberbullying, digital accountability, and the personal toll of misinformation on public figures.
