The first recipient of this initiative is Aunty Rita, a well-known local hair stylist who, for years, operated a modest salon with limited resources. Her story came to public attention through Lush Hair’s brand ambassador, comedian Real Warri Pikin, who recounted how Aunty Rita had styled her hair as a child and appealed for help to support her former stylist’s business.
What began as a renovation request quickly evolved into something much deeper. Touched by the story, Lush Hair chose to not only upgrade the physical space but to also invest in Aunty Rita’s professional development. The brand enrolled her in a crash course at the Lush Hair Professional School, where she learned modern hair styling techniques, customer service skills, and digital marketing strategies — especially how to leverage social media to reach a wider clientele.
“At Lush Hair, we’re not just about products — we’re about people,” said Vivian Obiano, Marketing Manager of Lush Hair. “We believe that empowering women at the grassroots level has a ripple effect on communities and the economy. Aunty Rita’s story inspired us to take real action, and it’s only the beginning.”
Beyond just one salon makeover, the Pink My Salon initiative is designed to be an ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) program. The company says it intends to reach more women across various regions in Nigeria, helping them build better salon businesses through training, mentorship, and infrastructure support.
The Lush Hair Professional School, which offers periodic free training to aspiring stylists, is central to this vision. It serves as both an educational platform and a community support system — giving budding beauty entrepreneurs the tools they need to succeed in a competitive industry.
For Aunty Rita, the transformation has been life-changing.
“I used to dream of having a real salon, something clean and beautiful where customers could feel comfortable,” she said, visibly emotional. “Thanks to Lush Hair, that dream is now my reality. The training changed everything for me — I now understand how to run my business properly, and I feel more confident about the future.”
As Lush Hair continues to roll out the Pink My Salon initiative, its message is clear: beauty isn't just skin-deep — it’s about empowerment, opportunity, and creating lasting impact at the heart of the community.
