Top Nigerian gospel music stars are set to converge in Ibadan this July to celebrate the 50th birthday of veteran gospel minister Evangelist Bukola Akinade, widely known as Senwele Jesu.
The two-in-one golden jubilee event will honour her remarkable life, ministry, and over two decades of unwavering service to gospel music—a genre she has helped shape and popularise in homes and churches across Nigeria.
Star-Studded Lineup of Gospel Artists
The celebration will feature performances from some of Nigeria’s most celebrated gospel acts, including Tope Alabi, Bisi Alawiye, Laolu Gbenjo, Ife Odogiyon, and Dare Justified. These artists are set to deliver powerful ministrations in tribute to Senwele Jesu’s enduring influence on gospel music and worship culture.
According to event coordinator Seyi Sokoya, the gathering is far more than just a birthday party.
“Senwele Jesu is a respected brand,” Sokoya explained. “She has remained steadfast and consistent in her calling to populate the Kingdom with her God-given talent. Reaching this golden age is a testament to special grace, and she deserves to be celebrated in grand style.”
Jubilee Praise Concert Kicks Off the Festivities
The celebration begins on Sunday, July 14, with a praise concert themed 50th Jubilee Praise at Christ Apostolic Church Eagle’s Wings Assembly, located on Wakajaye Road, Iyana Church, Ibadan, Oyo State.
This worship-filled evening will see renowned gospel ministers unite in song and spirit to honour Senwele Jesu’s lasting contributions to gospel music and her commitment to inspiring spiritual growth through her lyrics.
Grand Finale and Thanksgiving Service
The golden jubilee’s grand finale is set for Friday, July 19. Festivities will begin with a Thanksgiving Service at 10:00 a.m. at the same church venue.
Bishop Funke Felix-Adejumo, co-founder of Agape Christian Ministries and one of Nigeria’s leading female ministers, will deliver the keynote message, offering spiritual reflection and inspiration fitting for the occasion.
Following the service, guests will gather for a grand reception at Jogor Event Centre on Liberty Road, Ibadan—an event that promises joyful fellowship, tributes, and an outpouring of gratitude for Senwele Jesu’s impact.
Celebrating 25 Years of Spiritual Impact
Evangelist Bukola Akinade, fondly called Senwele Jesu, has spent over 25 years in ministry, becoming a household name known for heartfelt worship and spiritually enriching music that resonates with believers of all ages.
Her husband, Pastor Joseph Akinade, will serve as host for the events, underscoring the family’s shared commitment to ministry.
