May Edochie has formally addressed widespread online claims that she issued an apology letter to her estranged husband, Nollywood actor Yul Edochie. The rumors, which gained traction amid their ongoing divorce case, have been described by her legal team as misleading and untrue.
Statement from May’s Lawyer
In a Facebook post shared on her behalf by her lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, May dismissed the alleged apology letter as “a desperate attempt to create a narrative when other efforts have failed.”
The statement clarified:
“May did NOT issue any apology. It was Yul who chose polygamy, and previously apologized. However, such apology would not alter the current legal situation.”
Her lawyer urged the public to disregard the circulating claims, emphasizing that there has been no apology from May and that she remains committed to pursuing the divorce.
Ongoing Divorce and Legal Demands
May Edochie filed for divorce in 2023, following Yul Edochie’s public introduction of actress Judy Austin as his second wife in April 2022. The marriage to Judy was cited as adultery in May’s divorce petition.
As part of the proceedings, May is seeking N100 million in damages from Judy Austin over the adultery claim, signaling her determination to see the matter resolved through the courts.
Call to Disregard False Claims
The statement concluded by warning against the spread of false information designed to distort the facts of the divorce case. May Edochie remains focused on her legal action, according to her lawyer, and has not offered any apology that would change the course of proceedings.
