In a fiery video posted to Instagram on Sunday evening, VeryDarkMan strongly rejected the offer, accusing Soso of undervaluing him and making a mockery of his worth. He pointed to a previous deal from 2024 involving a proposed fight with American rapper 50 Cent, which he said he declined because the terms were financially lopsided.
“Make I quickly respond to Soso Soberekon for this disrespect,” he began, explaining that he had turned down a $100,000 fight purse last year to face 50 Cent in what was supposed to be a major event in Africa. According to him, the deal collapsed because he insisted on receiving $1 million, given that 50 Cent was reportedly offered $5 million with $2 million upfront.
He said the arrangement was being handled through influencer Tunde Ednut and even claimed the president of the boxing federation, Omo-Agege, was involved in the talks. A second offer came earlier in 2025 after his return from China, but once again, he deemed the figures unreasonable.
Comparing that experience to Soso’s current proposal, VeryDarkMan was emphatic: ₦100 million, or even ₦120 million, is nowhere near his valuation.
“N100 million cannot even buy you a good house in Abuja,” he scoffed. “Soso, you are very, very disrespectful. Forget about age.”
He went on to demand a $500,000 upfront payment before even entertaining a conversation about a fight with Portable and insisted that unless Soso can produce such an amount, he should refrain from using his name in public.
“If you want to insult me, just tell me waka,” he added. “Respect yourself if people dey respect you.”
With tempers flaring and celebrity egos on the line, this proposed showdown appears more like a publicity stunt than a feasible event. Still, the standoff has added another dramatic twist to the saga between two of Nigeria’s most controversial internet personalities. Whether Soso Soberekon or any promoter is willing to meet VeryDarkMan’s $1 million demand remains to be seen.
