Ruth was involved in a collision near Auchi Polytechnic on August 13, 2025, which led to a critical injury and the subsequent amputation of her leg. She is currently receiving treatment at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Edo State.
Phyna, in a series of strongly worded statements, accused Dangote Group of handling the matter insensitively. She alleged that company representatives visited Ruth in the hospital, took photographs without the family’s consent, and later shared them publicly.
The reality TV star also expressed displeasure at the company’s public statement referring to her sister as “Mrs. Ruth Otabor,” questioning the intention behind that phrasing. “What narrative are you about to start?” she asked, demanding clarity.
Emphasising her family’s right to privacy, Phyna declared that cameras would no longer be allowed in any future meetings or engagements regarding the case. “Who gave you permission to snap any member of my family and post it online? What disrespect,” she wrote.
She further demanded accountability and compensation, while also calling attention to the commercial motorcyclist involved in the same accident, who she said remains in critical condition. “Appropriate compensation! Quick recovery from an already amputated leg? Let’s not forget the bike man who is also fighting for his life,” Phyna stated.
The Dangote Group is yet to issue a detailed response beyond its initial statement, but the incident has sparked public debate over corporate responsibility, accident compensation, and respect for victims’ privacy.
