Joburg comes alive with unforgettable performances from Major League DJz, Jeremy Loops, DBN Gogo, 340ML, Zakes Bantwini, and more for a sold-out crowd, as Corona celebrates 100 years under the sun.
Cape Town, September 15th, 2025 - Following the golden-hour magic of the Corona Sunsets Festival Johannesburg this past weekend, the iconic global festival series will return to Clifton, Cape Town, on Saturday, 21 March 2026. A highlight on South Africa’s cultural calendar, the festival will once again deliver a breathtaking celebration of music, nature, and connection - all set against the spectacular backdrop of the Mother City’s coastline.
The first Corona Sunsets Festival in South Africa was held in Cape Town in 2016, and next year’s event will mark 10 years of golden-hour celebrations in the country. From a world tour in 2023 to its biggest edition yet in Johannesburg in 2025, the festival continues to grow on a global scale.
Building on its “More Than Music” philosophy, the Cape Town edition will encourage festivalgoers to pause, reconnect, and experience the golden hour with intention. This ethos comes to life through curated wellness workshops, sustainable food gardens, live art, and interactive performances designed to engage all the senses.
At the Johannesburg festival, the More Than Music Pavilion showcased inspiring voices in mindfulness and creativity, featuring yoga and meditation guide Dr. Anesu Mbizvo, mantra and movement facilitator Mandla Enoch (the African Dragonfly), and sustainability changemakers who brought the festival’s “Protect Our Sunset” initiative to life - setting the tone for the mindful experiences audiences can expect in Cape Town next year.
“Cape Town holds a special place in the Corona Sunsets journey,” says Melanie Nicholson, Head of Brand: Corona South Africa. “Bringing the festival back to this incredible city, with its sunsets, coastline, and vibrant music culture, feels like coming home. As we celebrate 100 years under the sun, we can’t wait to create more golden-hour memories together with Cape Town.”
The sold-out Johannesburg edition, held at Casalinga in Muldersdrift, drew 12,000 festivalgoers and showcased the festival’s signature fusion of world-class music and natural beauty. Performances by Major League DJz, DBN Gogo, Jeremy Loops, and Afro-rock icons 340ML electrified the crowd, while Zakes Bantwini, DJ Kent, FKA Mash, Oscar Mbo, and the Ndlovu Youth Choir delivered unforgettable sets that celebrated the strength and diversity of South Africa’s music scene.
True to its promise of being more than just a festival, Johannesburg’s event featured Daniel Popper’s monumental art installation, a Corona-branded hot air balloon, aerial performers soaring above the crowds, and interactive More Than Music experiences like drum circles, wellness sessions, and sustainable food gardens - all culminating in the iconic Sunset Moment, with a moving performance of When the Sun Goes Down by the Ndlovu Youth Choir.
For the first time ever, the Corona Sunsets Festival experience was brought to millions of South Africans nationwide through an exclusive partnership with the SABC, which broadcast the event live across SABC 1, S3, and SABC Plus. The partnership not only extended the magic of the festival beyond Casalinga but also highlighted the SABC’s ongoing role in shaping and celebrating South African culture.
“This partnership was about more than just broadcasting a concert – it was about connecting South Africans through a shared experience, wherever they were,” adds Nicholson. “It’s a milestone that sets the stage for even bigger moments in Cape Town next year.”
Registration for presale access to Corona Sunsets Festival Cape Town is available at corona.howler.co.za. Registration closes Monday, 22 September at 23h59 SAST, and tickets go on sale on Thursday, 25 September 10h00 SAST.
Celebrating a Century Under the Sun
For a brand with an identity so deeply tied to relaxation and nature, it's fitting that Corona is marking a major milestone. This year, the brand celebrates its "100 Years Under The Sun," a century-long journey of encouraging people to step outside, slow down, and find balance. What began as a beer has evolved into a global symbol of slowing down, enjoying the sunset, and reconnecting with both nature and each other.
To celebrate, Corona is hosting a global showcase, the Corona Beach 100, which highlights stunning coastlines around the world. South Africa is well-represented, with four of its breathtaking beaches—Kraalbaai, Nature's Valley, Camps Bay, and Boulders Beach—earning a spot on the list.
The festivities are culminating with the highly anticipated return of the Corona Sunsets Festival in Johannesburg. More than just a music event, the festival promises a multi-sensory experience featuring captivating fire artist performances, immersive sunset rituals, and the "More Than Music" experience. More Than a Beverage, It's a Lifestyle
Corona, an AB InBev brand with a presence in 180 countries, has become synonymous with paradise. This reputation was solidified when it was named the world's most valuable beer brand in Kantar’s BrandZ global 2024 rankings.
But the brand's mission extends far beyond its iconic bottle. The experience of adding a slice of lime is a ritual that elevates the moment, transforming the beverage into an essential part of the experience. The brand also takes its commitment to the environment seriously, having become the first global beverage brand with a net-zero plastic footprint. This milestone is part of a long-standing effort to protect the world's oceans and beaches from plastic pollution, making every sip a celebration of nature itself.
A Celebration of South African Spirit
The local celebrations are supported by the South African Breweries (SAB), a company that operates on the powerful purpose of "We Dream Big to Create a Future With More Cheers." As South Africa’s largest brewer, SAB is a significant economic contributor, a leader in sustainability, and a champion of responsible consumption. The company operates seven breweries and 42 depots, supporting over 250,000 jobs through its extensive "from seed to sip" beer economy. SAB’s portfolio includes beloved brands like Castle Lager, Carling Black Label, and Brutal Fruit, in addition to Corona.
The Corona Sunsets Festival will be broadcast on SABC1 and S3, two of South Africa's most prominent TV channels. With SABC1 reaching 8.8 million viewers daily and S3 reaching 2.7 million, the event is set to be a major cultural moment. Both channels reflect the diverse and dynamic spirit of South Africa, with SABC1 speaking to the youth and S3 appealing to the progressive millennial audience. This partnership ensures that the celebration of Corona's 100 years of sunshine reaches a wide and engaged audience across the nation.
