Popular Nollywood actor Tunde Usman, better known as Okele, has stirred conversations online after suggesting that Nigeria should “sign” foreign Presidents to solve its economic problems.

The comic actor made the remark in a humorous video shared on his Instagram page, where he lamented the rising cost of living and the recent increase in the price of cooking gas across the country.

Drawing an analogy from football, Okele proposed that Nigeria could adopt the practice of hiring experienced foreign leaders just as football clubs hire foreign coaches to improve their teams.

Speaking in Yoruba, he said:

“Greetings to all Nigerians home and abroad. May God help us soften this hardship. I just thought of something about gas, fuel and the way things are expensive in Nigeria.

If you are a lover of football, you know that every club has a coach, assistant coach, and goalkeeper trainers. Instead of campaigning for different political parties, with some looting our money, why can’t Nigeria look around the world and sign any ex-president that has proven himself in another country to fix Nigeria?

Many football nations have signed coaches from other countries. Maybe we should adopt this method — sign our President the same way clubs sign coaches. And if the President doesn’t perform, we sack him and sign another one.”

The actor’s creative proposal has since sparked laughter and debate on social media, with many Nigerians applauding his satirical take on governance and the nation’s economic situation.

Okele, known for his roles in Yoruba comedy films, often uses humor to comment on social and political issues affecting ordinary Nigerians.
