Nigerian rapper Emeka Akumefule, better known as Blaqbonez, has been accused of cyber harassment, blackmail, and invasion of privacy in a legal petition reportedly filed by the solicitors of a woman identified as Jane Doe.
According to a statement issued by Bristol & Mortglass C.S. and shared with PM News on Sunday, the law firm claimed that its client had endured prolonged cyberstalking, emotional harassment, and the non-consensual circulation of private video content following her rejection of the artiste’s alleged romantic advances in December 2024.
The firm said all attempts to get Blaqbonez to desist from what it described as the “unlawful procurement and circulation of indecent videos” had been unsuccessful.
“Following our client’s decision to decline his advances for a romantic relationship, Mr Akumefule embarked on a series of deliberate and malicious actions intended to intimidate, humiliate, and emotionally damage her,” the statement read.
The petition, which has reportedly been submitted to the Nigeria Police Force, accuses the rapper of blackmail, cyberstalking, and invasion of privacy — including the alleged unlawful sharing of private, indecent material without consent.
Bristol & Mortglass C.S. noted that the alleged actions had caused their client severe psychological and emotional trauma, prompting her to seek legal redress.
“Despite several reasonable attempts respectfully asking Mr Akumefule to desist, he persisted in his conduct, spreading false and damaging information about our client to tarnish her reputation,” the firm added.
The lawyers further stated that Ms Doe now fears for her safety in Lagos and has suffered both professional and personal distress due to the alleged harassment.
The petition also cited potential violations of several Nigerian laws, including the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015, the Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015, and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, urging law enforcement authorities to take swift action.
Bristol & Mortglass C.S. revealed that a separate legal correspondence, issued through TIA Solicitors, had earlier been served on Blaqbonez on 30 December 2024 and 8 January 2025, demanding the immediate deletion of private materials, a public apology, and ₦200 million in compensation for emotional distress.
Despite reportedly serving these documents at the rapper’s residence on two occasions, the firm alleged that the harassment continued.
As of the time of reporting, Blaqbonez and his management team have not released an official statement addressing the allegations.
Efforts to reach Ajayi Feyisetan, an executive at Chocolate City, the rapper’s record label, were also unsuccessful.
