Catholic priest Fr. Kelvin Ugwu has sparked widespread online debate following his blunt remarks about the troubled marriage between Nigerian billionaire and politician Ned Nwoko and Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.

Commenting on the ongoing tension in the celebrity couple’s relationship, Fr. Ugwu claimed that the marriage was never rooted in genuine affection but was instead a transaction driven by personal desires.

According to the priest, both individuals entered the union with self-serving motives, alleging that Nwoko sought a young virgin while Regina was attracted to the billionaire’s wealth and political stature.

“Ned was obsessed with virginity; Regina was obsessed with wealth. They both got what they wanted,” Fr. Ugwu wrote, describing the marriage as “a contract born out of greed.”

He added that the current challenges facing the couple are a natural outcome of their initial choices, insisting that neither party has moral grounds to complain.

Fr. Ugwu’s comments have ignited a flurry of reactions across social media, with supporters praising his candour while others accused him of overstepping clerical boundaries by passing judgment on private marital issues.

The remarks come amid renewed public scrutiny of Nwoko and Daniels’ marriage, which has frequently drawn attention due to the pair’s age gap, wealth disparity, and ongoing speculation about the state of their relationship.
