Kennery music sensation Afe Fakorede Ojo, better known by fans as Ijinle Kennery, is rounding off work on his much-anticipated new album as he prepares to take his signature sound to Europe. The upcoming project marks another milestone in the artist’s steady rise as one of the leading voices keeping the Kennery music tradition alive.
According to Dios Manda Entertainment, the Spain-based entertainment outfit behind the tour, final arrangements are in progress to ensure a seamless European debut for the Nigerian act. The company’s founder and show promoter, Winner Omo Gisanrin, confirmed that plans have been concluded for Ijinle Kennery’s performances across multiple European cities.
Having firmly established himself on Nigeria’s local music scene, Ijinle Kennery is now set to bring his distinctive rhythms and messages to international audiences. He is one of the few contemporary artists who have successfully preserved and evolved the Kennery genre — a style pioneered by the late music icon Dr. Orlando Owoh.
A native of Irun Akoko in Ondo State, Ijinle Kennery’s passion for music was nurtured from childhood in a culturally rich environment. His professional journey began in 2010 when he formed his first band, leading to the release of his debut album, Tribute to Orlando Owoh, in 2013. The album was a commercial success and played a major role in reviving public interest in the Kennery sound, once feared to have faded after Orlando Owoh’s passing.
Buoyed by the positive reception from fans, he followed up with Eru Obodo in 2014, further establishing his place in the genre. Since then, Ijinle Kennery has maintained a consistent creative streak, releasing several acclaimed projects over the years, including Our Democracy (2017), Ire ti Ola (2018), Yan’niyan Timi (2021), Success Is a Trap (2022), and two albums in 2024 — Legacy Dr. Orlando Owoh and Current Affairs.
As he readies his next album and European tour, Ijinle Kennery’s mission remains clear: to celebrate the legacy of Kennery music while redefining it for a new generation of listeners at home and abroad.
