As nations around the globe marked the 2025 World Food Day themed “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future,” Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening food safety standards and promoting partnerships across the food sector.

In a statement shared via its official X handle on Monday, the agency announced that its Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (FSAN) Directorate had organised a capacity-building session for officers as part of the celebration. The session, NAFDAC explained, was designed to deepen technical expertise and reinforce the agency’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the quality and integrity of food consumed across the country.

Highlighting the global theme, NAFDAC emphasized the critical need for collaboration among governments, industry players, academia, non-governmental organizations, civil society, and consumers. According to the agency, collective action remains vital in ensuring that food produced and distributed in Nigeria meets both national and international safety standards.

The agency further called on all stakeholders in the food value chain to work together toward building safer and more sustainable food systems. It noted that such partnerships are essential for protecting public health and securing a healthier future for generations to come.
