In a heartfelt demonstration of corporate social responsibility, Zenith General Insurance Limited recently donated food items and essential supplies to two Lagos-based orphanages, Heritage Homes and Children Anchor Orphanage Home. The initiative underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children in society.
During the visits, senior representatives from Zenith General Insurance emphasized that giving back to the community aligns closely with the company’s core values of empathy and social impact. Edith Agu, Senior Manager overseeing Head Office Marketing and the South-South branches, explained that the initiative was intended to let the children know they are cared for and valued.
“We want to show them that Zenith Insurance cares about them and that their well-being is important to us,” Agu said. She further highlighted the significance of sustained corporate support for community development, even amid economic challenges. “Organisations should plan and make budgetary allocations for the improvement of their society through various corporate social vehicles,” she advised.
The Children Anchor Orphanage Home, which houses over 35 children, relies heavily on faith, online awareness campaigns, and donations from compassionate supporters. Its supervisor, Mr. Olajide Bankole, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Zenith General Insurance for choosing to support their home. “We are really grateful. We are not the only orphanage, but you chose Children Anchor Orphanage Home,” he said, reflecting the profound impact of the visit.
Heritage Homes, established to provide a safe haven for children without families, also benefited from Zenith’s donation. The facility serves as a bridge between abandoned children and prospective caregivers, helping shape brighter futures for those in need.
During the visits, Zenith representatives shared personal messages of encouragement with the children. Abimbola Sarumi, Deputy Head of IT, said, “We came to put an extra smile on the faces of our children, our tomorrow.” Meanwhile, Muyiwa Aderibigbe, Head of Internal Control and Audit, emphasized that such acts reflect the company’s commitment to empathy. “This activity speaks to one of our core values. We want you to stay alive because, as our business is known for restoring hope, joy is coming,” he told the children and staff.
Aderibigbe also urged other organisations to follow suit, noting that beyond profit, companies have a responsibility to make a tangible impact on society.
As the visits concluded, the atmosphere was filled with gratitude and renewed hope. Both orphanages expressed optimism for a continued partnership with Zenith General Insurance, a company demonstrating that business success and social responsibility can go hand in hand.
