In a statement shared on his official Instagram page, Arimoro recounted that the incident stemmed from a heated confrontation on set. He claimed that tensions escalated when he attempted to leave after completing his agreed working hours, sparking a dispute with Ovire and members of her production team.
During an Instagram livestream, Arimoro alleged that he was prevented from exiting the location, saying his car was blocked and the tyres damaged. According to him, the actions of the team amounted to holding him against his will. “I said I wanted to go home, but they don’t want me to. They held me against my will… Why would you block me? I can’t go to my house again?” he stated, insisting that he had made his working schedule clear in advance.
He further claimed that the confrontation became physical, resulting in injuries to his gums, lips, and damage to a lower front tooth. Arimoro noted that he intends to follow through with legal action, describing the experience as unlike anything he has encountered in his acting career. “I definitely need to see a dentist… I’ve never experienced anything like this because I don’t cause trouble, especially when it comes to work,” he said.
Peggy Ovire Refutes Assault Claims, Accuses Taye Arimoro of Attacking Crew on Set
Peggy Ovire publicly denied allegations of assault, counter-accusing Arimoro of being the aggressor during the production-day altercation that has now led to legal action.
Responding via an Instagram update, Ovire alleged that Arimoro assaulted members of her production crew after being asked to complete two remaining scenes needed to wrap filming for the night. She claimed the incident escalated because Arimoro refused the request and reacted violently.
According to her account, “Taye beat up two crew members simply because he felt they had no voice, no social media presence, no one to speak for them. They were only begging you to please complete two short scenes so we could wrap the night.” She further accused him of going live on social media to record reactions while omitting the portion where the confrontation allegedly began.
Ovire stated that Arimoro arrived on set around noon and worked into the night, but attempted to leave without prior notice. She said tensions rose when he was asked to shoot a quick scene before recording behind-the-scenes footage, noting that his response was sharp enough for her to step back.
She added that when the production manager later approached Arimoro to appeal for additional time, the situation turned physical. “Later, when the production manager approached you to appeal for more time, you got physical with him. That was completely unexpected,” she said.
The actress described returning to find Arimoro struggling over a car key and attempting to calm him before he drove off while she was still beside the vehicle. Matters worsened, she claimed, when her driver attempted to intervene, resulting in a scuffle in which he was allegedly struck multiple times and left bleeding from the ear.
Ovire said she drove to the gate area in an attempt to prevent the situation from spiraling further. The widening rift between both actors is now poised to play out both publicly and legally, as Arimoro has already filed a petition demanding damages and a public apology. Both sides have presented starkly conflicting accounts, and the industry is watching closely for next steps in what has become a highly publicised Nollywood dispute.
