The campaign, which kicked off in Agege Local Government Area, forms part of the state’s proactive strategy to sustain high population immunity and prevent the resurgence of infectious diseases. It targets all children under five years old, ensuring that every eligible child receives life-saving vaccines while improving disease surveillance and public health awareness.
Leading the flag-off, the Permanent Secretary of the LSPHCB, Dr. Ibrahim Akinwunmi Mustafa, mni, conducted supportive supervision in selected Agege health facilities to monitor the implementation process and assess service quality.
Dr. Mustafa was accompanied by Hon. Abdulganiyu Obasa, Chairman of Agege Local Government, alongside senior officials of the Board and local council representatives.
“The Lagos State Government remains deeply committed to protecting the health of its citizens through continuous vaccination and rapid outbreak response,” said Dr. Mustafa. “Our supervisory visits are designed to ensure strict compliance with operational standards, verify vaccine availability, and assess the quality of service delivery across all facilities.”
He commended the dedication of frontline health workers and appealed to parents and caregivers to participate fully in the campaign by ensuring that their children are vaccinated.
“We can only achieve success when every eligible child is reached. Immunization is safe, free, and remains the most effective protection against preventable diseases,” he added.
In his remarks, Hon. Obasa reaffirmed Agege Local Government’s support for all state-led health initiatives, noting that active community engagement is essential for success.
“We are working hand-in-hand with the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board to ensure that every household in Agege benefits from this vital intervention,” he said.
The LSPHCB confirmed that the Outbreak Response Campaign will continue across all local government areas in Lagos State, with ongoing monitoring and supervision to ensure that all immunization targets are achieved and sustained.
