Nigerian-Canadian singer and producer Nonso Amadi has released his latest body of work, “To Cry a Flood,” a six-track EP that reinforces his place among the most emotive voices blending R&B, alté and Afropop.

The project lives in a space of vulnerability and quiet intensity, with Amadi using minimalist production and soft, cinematic soundscapes to explore themes of longing, emotional turbulence and personal renewal. Each track feels like a chapter in a nocturnal diary, guided by his gentle vocals and restrained instrumentation.

The EP opens with the atmospheric “Mmiri,” setting the tone with its immersive pull before moving into “Pillow,” where Amadi leans into tender self-reflection. “Drown,” one of the project’s most haunting moments, builds a calm yet aching emotional tension that anchors the record’s introspective core.

A highlight emerges with “Like Me,” a collaboration with fast-rising singer Taves, whose soulful contribution gives the EP a warm, resonant lift as it closes. Their chemistry adds a fresh vibrancy to the otherwise subdued palette.

“To Cry a Flood” arrives as a late-night companion—intimate, richly layered and emotionally deliberate—underscoring Amadi’s continued evolution as a storyteller and sound shaper in the alternative African music landscape.
