The facility, which will be located in the Pecém port complex in Ceará State, is expected to serve TikTok as its sole client, according to executives who spoke with Reuters. Although ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese parent company, has declined to comment, multiple sources close to the development confirmed the platform’s involvement.
A Landmark Partnership in Brazil’s Digital Economy
Omnia will partner with Casa dos Ventos, one of Brazil’s leading renewable energy companies, to deliver the massive facility. The project represents a significant milestone in Brazil’s push to become a regional hub for sustainable digital infrastructure.
“This will be the first data center in the country focused on exporting data,” said Rodrigo Abreu, CEO of Omnia, noting that the project aligns with Brazil’s growing ambitions to expand its data services sector while leveraging renewable power sources.
Massive Investment and Renewable Power Integration
With an estimated power demand of 300 megawatts, the data center will be the largest single-client facility ever built in Brazil. Construction is slated to begin later this year, with operations expected to start in 2027.
Omnia will invest R$12 billion in infrastructure, while TikTok—the expected client—will contribute the remainder, covering costs related to IT infrastructure and processing servers.
Casa dos Ventos, meanwhile, will channel R$3.5 billion into building new wind farms dedicated to powering the center. “The energy we’ll supply will be fully renewable, reinforcing Brazil’s potential as a clean-tech data hub,” said Lucas Araripe, the company’s executive director.
A Boost for Brazil’s Data Export Ambitions
The Brazilian government has formally authorized the facility to provide data export services, according to a decree published in the official gazette on Monday. The move positions Brazil as a pioneer in the region’s data economy and reflects President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s broader strategy to attract high-tech investments.
Lula’s administration recently introduced federal tax exemptions for data center projects, aiming to make Brazil more competitive in hosting global digital platforms that demand sustainable energy and scalable infrastructure.
Strengthening Brazil’s Role in Global Tech
The Omnia-Casa dos Ventos partnership marks a defining moment for Brazil’s digital infrastructure ambitions. With global platforms like TikTok increasingly seeking renewable-powered data operations, the Ceará facility could serve as a model for future projects across Latin America.
By combining large-scale investment, green energy integration, and international digital services, the project underscores how Brazil is positioning itself not just as a consumer of technology—but as a key global player in the data economy of the future.
