In a video message, Makinwa revealed that she does not bathe her baby every day, citing concerns that frequent bathing could harm a newborn’s sensitive skin. She emphasized that babies, having spent nine months in the womb, are not inherently dirty and do not require constant washing.
“I know I’m a new mom, and I’m literally just learning as I go, but I really think excessive showering causes skin problems in babies. Babies are not dirty. They’ve been inside the womb for nine months, and inside your womb is not dirty,” she said.
Makinwa, a first-time mother, admitted she previously judged her sister for adopting a similar approach with her niece. However, after seeing the benefits to her niece’s skin, she decided to implement a less frequent bathing routine for her own child, Yaya.
She added that she plans to gradually introduce daily baths once Yaya reaches four to six months of age.
