Edo Assembly Calls Natasha Irobosa to Account

The Edo State House of Assembly has summoned Hon. Natasha Irobosa, the member representing Egor Constituency, to appear before its Ethics and Privileges Committee within one week. The Assembly says the invitation is to allow her to respond to allegations of misconduct that, according to lawmakers, have tarnished the reputation of the House.

During Tuesday’s plenary session, the Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, expressed concern that Irobosa’s conduct had dragged the Assembly’s name “in the mud.” He noted that the House, composed of highly educated and experienced members, should maintain decorum, and that her recent actions—trending online for all the wrong reasons—have brought disrepute to the institution.

“The House has members who know what they are doing, and the attitude of our member has brought this House to disrepute, and we will not tolerate it,” the Speaker said. He added that the Ethics and Privileges Committee would submit its findings within two weeks.

Social Media Storm: 2Baba and Irobosa in the Spotlight
The summons comes amid growing controversy surrounding Irobosa’s relationship with music legend Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba. The saga has captured widespread attention, fueled by viral videos and live-streamed interactions that have left fans and industry watchers concerned about the singer’s personal life.

One widely circulated clip shows a heated exchange between 2Baba and Irobosa during an Instagram Live session hosted by media personality Daddy Freeze. The session featured members of 2Baba’s former management team discussing stalled international projects. The confrontation escalated within minutes, with Irobosa seemingly trying to seize the phone as voices were raised, abruptly ending the live broadcast.

Concerns Over 2Baba’s Wellbeing
The social media drama follows other viral footage, including a clip showing 2Baba being handcuffed and escorted by police in the United Kingdom. The videos have sparked widespread anxiety among fans, many of whom fear the veteran singer may be facing a personal and marital crisis.

During the live session, former members of 2Baba’s management team alleged that internal interference had stalled key international projects, including UK and African tours, stadium concerts, and government-backed engagements abroad. “You go out there to make your money; even if it’s 100,000 people listening, the money is enough to sustain you,” said former manager Kaka Igbokwe, outlining plans that aimed to elevate the singer to the stature of globally respected African artists.

Fan Reactions and Public Sentiment
Fans have expressed dismay over the situation, sharing emotional posts on social media. Popular content creator Nasboi lamented the negative impact of the viral clips on 2Baba’s long-held image of humility and calm. “I’ve looked up to you since I was 16… In fact, you were one of the people who taught me what it means to be humble,” he wrote, urging the singer to regain control of the narrative.

Others joined the conversation, calling for public support and intervention in the singer’s marital issues. During a separate live session, a female fan tearfully appealed to Nigerian men to help 2Baba, while many users on X (formerly Twitter) expressed shock, concern, and nostalgia for the artist’s earlier reputation.

A Relationship in the Public Eye
The relationship between 2Baba and Natasha Irobosa became publicly known shortly after the singer announced the end of his 12-year marriage to Annie Macaulay in January. He later introduced Irobosa as his fiancée and proposed to her publicly on February 14. The couple reportedly held a private traditional wedding ceremony in Abuja in July.

As both the Assembly investigation and social media scrutiny unfold, the saga highlights the delicate intersection of public office, personal relationships, and celebrity influence—bringing national attention to the conduct of a lawmaker and the private life of a music icon.
