Popular Nigerian comedian Klint Da Drunk has shared the reasons behind his unexpected career switch from music to comedy, revealing that a chance encounter with a fellow musician on campus changed the course of his life.

In an interview with Naija FM Lagos, Klint Da Drunk explained that while he was studying at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu, he initially aspired to become a musician. However, witnessing a performance by 2Face Idibia, who was also studying at the institute at the time, made him reconsider his path.

“I used to be a musician until 2Face got admitted to my school, IMT. One day, he performed at a campus event, and after hearing just two lines, I decided to leave the hall,” Klint Da Drunk recalled. “The organisers even asked me to stay back and perform afterward, but I went home. I didn’t know then that our styles were different. Had I known, I might have continued with music. But thank God I didn’t, because I like where I am now.”

Before fully embracing comedy, Klint Da Drunk had made his mark in the Nigerian music scene. He was featured in the hit hip-hop track “Obodo” by rapper Mr Raw and co-founded a music group with him. The group finished as runners-up in the Star Quest talent show in 2002, losing to KC Presh.

Since switching to comedy, Klint Da Drunk has carved out a successful career, starring in more than a dozen Nollywood films, including Men on the Run, Madam 10/10, Fast Cash, and Lost Kingdom. His journey reflects a willingness to embrace change and follow his true passion, proving that sometimes stepping away from the spotlight in one field can lead to stardom in another.
