Ogbonna posted a video over the weekend showing the pair together at a family event, specifically Ekubo’s sister’s wedding. In the video, both actors appeared in high spirits, prompting Ogbonna to address the speculation surrounding Ekubo’s prolonged silence online.
“Yes. That was on Saturday at Alex sister’s wedding. That was where we made the video. Alex is very okay. He is in good health and there is nothing wrong with him,” Ogbonna explained. “He is just taking a leave because sometimes, people want to take time off social media and social gatherings, especially when the better part of your adulthood has been centered around being in the spotlight. Sometimes, you just want to take a step back. He is doing very fine and there is nothing wrong with him.”
The actor also highlighted that Ekubo has been focusing on personal projects and spending time with family during his hiatus. “He has been going about his business outside of Nollywood. His close friends know that he spends time with them and family. When he is ready to come back online, I’m sure he will,” Ogbonna added.
Ekubo’s extended absence had sparked concern among fans, many of whom revisited his social media pages after Ogbonna’s video surfaced. His last post on Instagram was made on December 30, 2024, nearly a year ago.
Supportive messages quickly flooded the comments section. One fan, Aliyu Abdullahi, wrote, “It’s been almost a year now. I hope he’s sound and healthy.” Another user, Green Choko, said, “Sending love in whatever you’re going through that made you leave the media.”
Bees Accessories added, “It’s almost a year since you posted. I hope you are fine and good. I pray you find peace and happiness in whatever you are going through. You will come out of it strong and take care of yourself.” Meanwhile, follower Chinny Bakes expressed joy at seeing him, commenting, “Wow!!! I’m so happy to see a video of you with IK Ogbonna today.”
For now, fans can rest assured that Ekubo is taking a well-deserved break while remaining in good health and spirits.
