The disagreement unfolded on X after Davido posted a message on Wednesday suggesting his intention to lean into the popular Amapiano sound. Jesse Jagz, whose real name is Jesse Garba Abaga, responded tersely in the comment section with the remark, “We don tire,” a statement that appeared to criticise the growing dominance of the genre.
Davido reacted sharply to the comment, accusing Jagz of being influenced by drugs and boasting about his wealth and status. In a now widely circulated post, the singer claimed he could “buy” Jagz’s entire life, while also warning him to focus on his own issues rather than provoke unnecessary conflict.
Jagz fired back, calling out what he described as disrespect and rejecting the notion that money or influence could define a person’s worth. He insisted that life itself cannot be bought and urged Davido to show respect, referring to him as “little bro” in his response. Jagz also suggested that artistic credibility, not wealth, determines who stands out in music.
The exchange grew more heated before some of the posts were deleted. In the removed messages, Jagz reportedly described the ‘Unavailable’ hitmaker as “wack,” further intensifying the feud.
While neither artist has issued a formal statement since the posts were taken down, the clash has sparked debate online about artistic direction, genre fatigue and the role of wealth and status in Nigeria’s music industry. Fans of both musicians have continued to trade opinions, keeping the dispute trending across social media platforms.
