Data published on the Central Bank of Nigeria’s official website showed that the naira appreciated by N1.65 on Friday, closing at N1,454.41 per dollar. This represents a 0.11 per cent gain compared to Thursday’s closing rate of N1,456.06.
The week’s performance followed a mixed pattern, with the naira experiencing slight fluctuations over the course of trading. After opening the week with mild depreciation, the currency recorded minimal losses midweek, trading at N1,455.38 on Wednesday.
Earlier in the week, the naira exchanged at N1,451.86 on Monday before weakening slightly to N1,454.38 on Tuesday. Despite these marginal movements, the currency managed to recover toward the end of the week, closing on a positive note.
The overall trend highlights continued efforts to stabilise the foreign exchange market, even as the naira remains sensitive to demand pressures and broader economic factors.
