A survey of filling stations in Abuja on Thursday showed that NNPCL outlets are now selling petrol at N835 per litre, down from N915 per litre. The latest adjustment represents a reduction of N80 per litre by the state-owned oil company.
The fresh cut follows recent price reviews by several independent marketers operating in the federal capital. Stations operated by MRS, BOVAS and AA Rano have adjusted their pump prices to a range of between N739 and N865 per litre, depending on location and supply conditions.
Industry sources link the downward trend in retail prices to recent reductions at the wholesale level. Dangote Refinery and depot owners earlier slashed ex-depot petrol prices to between N699 and N800 per litre, easing cost pressures for marketers and creating room for lower pump prices.
NNPCL had previously reduced petrol prices earlier in the month, with adjustments recorded on December 4 and December 10, 2025. The successive reductions suggest growing competition in the fuel market as supply improves and refiners and marketers respond to changing pricing dynamics.
Analysts say continued price movements will depend on crude oil prices, exchange rate trends, and the pace at which locally refined fuel enters the domestic market.
