Nigeria, who will play their Group C matches in the Moroccan city of Fez, open their AFCON campaign against Tanzania on December 23, two days after the tournament kicks off.
The Super Eagles had been camped in Cairo since Saturday, where they wrapped up preparations with an international friendly against hosts Egypt. Nigeria fell 2–1 to the Pharaohs in the warm-up encounter.
All 28 players selected for the championship took part in the team’s morning training session in Egypt on Tuesday, with the exception of Osimhen, who was expected to arrive later in the day. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that the striker was scheduled to join the squad for the evening training session at 5:00 p.m.
Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon, who arrived at the camp earlier on Tuesday, featured in the morning workout alongside the rest of the squad.
The Super Eagles’ contingent for the tournament includes goalkeepers Francis Uzoho, Stanley Nwabali and Amas Obasogie. Defensive and midfield options include Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Zaidu Sanusi, Igoh Ogbu, Chidozie Awaziem, Bruno Onyemaechi, Frank Onyeka, Wilfred Ndidi, Raphael Onyedika, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Alex Iwobi and Tochukwu Nnadi.
The attacking lineup features Ademola Lookman, Paul Onuachu, Cyriel Dessers, Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen, alongside Ryan Alebiosu, Salim Fago and Usman Muhammed.
According to the NFF, the team will travel to Fez on a chartered flight for their Group C fixtures against Tanzania, Tunisia and Uganda, in that order. Egypt, meanwhile, will head to Agadir for their Group B matches against South Africa, Angola and Zimbabwe.
