Nigerian audiences will be treated to a poignant romantic drama when ‘To Adaego with Love’ premieres in cinemas on February 6, 2026. Set in 1975, the film explores a tender love story between a soldier and a schoolteacher from different ethnic backgrounds, against the backdrop of a nation still healing from its past.

The couple’s relationship is tender, forbidden, and deeply human, challenged by tradition, family expectations, and a society grappling with historical fractures. “This film is about ordinary people choosing love at a time when Nigeria was still healing,” said producer and screenwriter Brenda Ogbukaa-Garuba. “It is not about politics, but about forgiveness, fragile hope, and the quiet strength it takes to move forward in a broken world.”

The movie stars Chisom Agoawuike and Adam Garba, supported by a stellar ensemble cast including Chioma Chukwuka, Bob Manuel Udokwu, Riyo David, Demi Banwo, Tonia Chukwurah, Six Foot Plus, and the late Onyeka Onwenu. Ogbukaa-Garuba reflected on Onwenu’s contribution: “This film is especially meaningful because it carries Onyeka Onwenu’s final performance. She brought truth, grace, and strength to every moment. ‘To Adaego with Love’ is our way of honouring her legacy.”

Directed by Nwamaka Chikezie and executive produced by Tony B. Adesina, the film promises a blend of intimate storytelling and rich cultural detail, offering audiences a love story deeply rooted in Nigerian history. With its focus on emotional resonance, societal challenges, and the quiet courage of its characters, To Adaego with Love aims to linger in viewers’ hearts long after the credits roll.
