In an era where digital risk has become a defining challenge for modern enterprises, Ardova Plc has taken a decisive step to reinforce confidence in its systems, processes, and governance framework. The Nigerian integrated energy company has been awarded the ISO 27001:2022 Certification, the world’s leading and most respected standard for information security management systems.

The achievement places Ardova Plc among a small and distinguished group of organisations in Nigeria that meet globally recognised benchmarks for protecting sensitive information. It underscores the company’s commitment to safeguarding customer, employee, and corporate data at a time when businesses are increasingly exposed to cyber threats, data breaches, and operational vulnerabilities driven by rapid digitalisation.

ISO 27001:2022 is widely regarded as the gold standard for information security. The framework provides a structured and comprehensive approach to identifying, managing, and mitigating information-related risks across people, processes, and technology. For Ardova Plc, attaining this certification goes beyond regulatory compliance; it reflects a deliberate and strategic effort to embed information security at the heart of its operations as it continues to scale digital transformation initiatives across its business.

The certification followed an extensive and rigorous audit process that examined Ardova Plc’s information security policies, procedures, and technical controls. Multiple departments responsible for handling sensitive data were assessed, with the exercise spanning several phases of system reviews, risk assessments, and process enhancements. These steps were designed to ensure full alignment with the stringent requirements of the ISO 27001:2022 standard.

The initiative was driven internally by Ardova Plc’s Technology and Digital Department under the leadership of Mr Kamil Adebumola. The team worked closely with Cyberstage Systems Ltd, an accredited ISO consulting and certification body, to deliver the project. This collaborative approach ensured that information security controls were not only properly documented but effectively implemented and embedded across the organisation’s day-to-day operations.

Following the successful completion of the audit, Cyberstage Systems Ltd formally presented the ISO 27001 certificate to Ardova Plc at a brief ceremony held at the company’s head office. The event brought together senior executives and key stakeholders who played critical roles throughout the certification journey. Attendees included the Managing Director, the Group Financial Controller, the Head of Digital and Analytics, and the company’s ISO Champions—representatives drawn from various teams tasked with managing and protecting customer and employee data.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ardova Plc’s Managing Director, Mr Moshood Olajide, described the certification as a clear reflection of the organisation’s collective commitment to excellence, strong risk management practices, and adherence to global standards.

“This certification is a testament to Ardova Plc’s commitment to adhering to the highest standards of information security, risk management, and compliance as an organization,” Olajide said. “This achievement is not just about compliance; it’s about our commitment to trust, resilience, and excellence in safeguarding information, and reassuring our stakeholders that we not only align with global standards but are also prepared for the future.”

He further emphasised the growing importance of information security in today’s business environment, particularly for organisations operating in sectors experiencing rapid digital transformation. “Information security is at the heart of our operations, and achieving ISO 27001 reflects our ongoing commitment to protecting the trust our customers and partners place in us,” he added.

Beyond its symbolic value, the ISO 27001:2022 certification equips Ardova Plc with a robust and internationally recognised framework for identifying vulnerabilities, managing cyber and operational risks, and responding effectively to potential data breaches or system disruptions. It also strengthens the company’s ability to assure regulators, partners, and customers that information under its care is managed with the highest levels of confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Industry observers note that as Nigerian companies increasingly digitise key aspects of their operations—ranging from customer engagement and supply chain management to financial transactions—information security has evolved from a back-office concern into a boardroom priority. Against this backdrop, Ardova Plc’s certification sends a strong signal of its readiness to operate in a more interconnected, data-driven, and compliance-focused global marketplace.

The recognition also reinforces Ardova Plc’s broader strategic focus on corporate governance and operational excellence. By aligning its information security management systems with international best practices, the company enhances internal controls, strengthens organisational discipline, and solidifies its reputation as a trusted and responsible corporate citizen.

For employees and partners, the certification establishes clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations for handling sensitive information, helping to foster a culture of security awareness across the organisation. For customers, it provides additional assurance that their data is protected by systems and processes that meet the highest global standards.

As Ardova Plc continues to expand its footprint within Nigeria’s energy sector while leveraging digital tools to drive efficiency and innovation, the ISO 27001:2022 certification stands as a significant milestone in its corporate evolution. It reflects a clear understanding that in today’s business environment, trust is built not only on products and performance, but also on how effectively information is protected.

With this accomplishment, Ardova Plc has not only strengthened its own information security posture but has also set a strong example for corporate Nigeria on the importance of embedding global best practices in data protection, governance, and risk management.
